Overreaching Orders

The manner in which some Municipal and District Chief Executives misuse the security agencies in their jurisdictions mirrors aptly what obtains at the top of the governance hierarchy and it is worrying.

Such appointees do not have to watch over their shoulders when their orders are but a replication of what the President is exacting at the summit with their security chiefs, his preferences, at his beck and call.

Rita Mesiwotso Batse an NPP activist could have easily been abducted or even kidnapped and her whereabouts concealed from her family and friends as played out on others whose remarks and activities are distasteful to government and its appendages.

The Hohoe MCE is angry with her for exposing abandoned government projects undertaken during the previous government in parts of the Volta Region, especially Hohoe.

The other source of his anger is that she is NPP and campaigning for the party in her own way. For him that offers a chance to descend upon her which he did rather unproductively. He attracted the attention of unofficial watchers of governance who stood up against him stoically. This accounts for the scaling down of the earlier aggressive invitation to her to report herself to the security agencies, the BNI and CID.

She took the extra mile of capturing NPP-initiated projects, complete yet unused. This she did in image mode for which reason in his estimation she has breached the law. Let him be mindful about he is taking cue from the President perhaps on the day of reckoning he will only have himself to blame.

It is instructive that the Volta Region which had its fair share of government projects under the Akufo-Addo administration has often been presented otherwise by the NDC in their Machiavellian tactics. This situates the lady’s work critical when examining governance under Mahama II.

He virtually screamed at the security agencies to go after the lady. That is what he is demanding of the security agencies because she unlawfully entered public properties to probe a situation which outcome she made public. Whatever is wrong with unearthing wrongs in society is something beyond our ken.

The MCE could not care a hoot about the non-use of the completed projects as they stand in Hohoe, idle. He is more concerned about the bad picture being discussed by Ghanaian because the lady exposed it.

Public projects belong to all Ghanaians. Nobody needs the authorization of the President and his appointees before probing their state and putting same in the public space.

Governance is becoming more embroiled in instances of arbitrariness and people are grumbling and talking.

All eyes are on the lady because she could be targeted for subtle maltreatment. We know the NDC and their communist inferior tactics.
