A Ghanaian first-class graduate, identified as Mercy Yaaba Bredu, has reportedly died in China shortly after arriving in the country to pursue her master’s degree.
Mercy reportedly left Ghana on August 24, 2026, with plans to further her education in China. However, during the journey, she is said to have complained of experiencing heart pain.
After arriving in China, she reportedly collapsed at the airport and was rushed to a hospital for medical attention.
Despite efforts to save her, Mercy was pronounced dead on August 26, 2026, just two days after leaving Ghana. Her sudden death has reportedly left family, friends and well-wishers devastated, particularly given that she had travelled with the hope of advancing her education and building on her academic achievements.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, and further details about the cause of death have not been independently established from the information available.
Her passing has nevertheless triggered an outpouring of grief, with tributes being shared by those who knew her.
