BY DANIEL BAMPOE

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially closed the picking of nomination forms for its 2026 National Executive Elections, with a total of 137 prospective aspirants expressing interest in contesting various positions ahead of the party’s 11th National Delegates Congress.

In a press release issued by the party’s National Secretariat on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the NDC announced that the close of nominations marked the beginning of the next phase of activities leading to the election of its national executives in December.

The exercise is expected to culminate in the party’s 11th National Delegates Congress, where delegates will elect officers to lead the NDC’s national administration and oversee its organisational activities.

According to the statement, the nomination process closed at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, with 137 prospective aspirants having picked nomination forms to contest positions across the party’s national leadership structure.

The positions are National Chairman, National Vice Chairman, General Secretary, Deputy General Secretary, National Organiser, Deputy National Organiser, National Communications Officer, Deputy National Communications Officer, National Women’s Organiser, Deputy National Women’s Organiser, National Youth Organiser, Deputy National Youth Organiser, National Zongo Caucus Coordinator and members of the National Executive Committee.

The number of aspirants seeking to contest the various positions signals the level of interest in the party’s national leadership elections, although picking a nomination form does not automatically qualify a prospective candidate to contest.

The NDC has given all prospective aspirants 14 days to complete their nomination forms and satisfy the relevant requirements, including payment of filing fees and securing the necessary endorsements.

The party said the process would be conducted in accordance with Sections 10 and 15 of the 2026 Guidelines for the Conduct of the National Congress. Aspirants are therefore expected to fulfil the stipulated requirements within the prescribed period to progress to the next stage of the electoral process.

The filing of completed nominations is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, through Monday, November 9, 2026, at the party’s national headquarters in Adabraka, Accra.

The announcement was signed by Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, spokesperson for the Congress Elections Committee.
The closure of nominations sets the stage for a series of activities that will determine which aspirants are eligible to contest the various national executive positions. The process is expected to attract considerable attention within the party as prospective candidates seek to secure the support of delegates and position themselves for leadership roles.
