A disturbing case of a child abuse has rocked the La Roman JHS enclave in Accra following the arrest of two women accused of assaulting a 12-year-old girl in an incident that has reignited public concern over mob justice and violence against minors.
The suspects, identified as Precious Giftan Mesopeh and Princess Giftan Mesopeh, are sisters of a young girl said to be involved in a minor dispute with the victim.
According to police sources, the assault occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, after an altercation between the 12-year-old victim and a 7-year-old relative of the suspects.
Investigations indicate that what began as a disagreement between the two children quickly escalated into a violent confrontation involving adults.
Rather than reporting the matter to school authorities or parents, the suspects allegedly went to the victim’s house, forcibly took her to their residence, and subjected her to a brutal assault.
During the incident, the child was reportedly pushed to the ground, an action that allegedly worsened the severity of the injuries she sustained.
The victim, identified as Horm Giftan Mesopeh, is said to have suffered physical harm that has since drawn outrage from residents and social media users, many of whom are questioning the increasing tendency of adults to resort to violence over minor disputes involving children.
Police have confirmed that Precious Giftan Mesopeh and Princess Giftan Mesopeh are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
A third suspect, their mother, Priscilla Novishie Wornyo, has been named in the case and is believed to be evading arrest.
Law enforcement sources say she allegedly attempted to flee to the Volta Region, but efforts are underway to locate and apprehend her.
