BY Issah Olegor

Coventry City’s impressive run came to an end on November 1, 2025, as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Wrexham, with Kiefer Moore scoring a hat-trick for the winners.

Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante, who has been in exceptional form, played 67 minutes in the loss.

Despite the defeat, Coventry City remains at the top of the Championship table with 28 points, albeit with a significant goal difference of +16.

Thomas-Asante’s Performance

Thomas-Asante, who has scored nine goals and provided three assists in the 2025-2026 season, had a relatively quiet game, playing 13 of 18 passes accurately but losing possession 10 times and winning just six ground duels.

Before this loss, Coventry City had won eight and drawn four of their 12 games, showcasing their impressive form under manager Frank Lampard.

Impact On The Championship Standings

The loss keeps Coventry City at 28 points, but second-ranked Middlesbrough could potentially match their point tally should they beat Watford in their contest on November 1.

However, Coventry’s substantial goal difference means they are likely to maintain their first-place position in the standings.

Upcoming Fixture

Coventry City will look to bounce back from this defeat as they take on Sheffield United on Tuesday, November 4. Thomas-Asante will be hoping to regain his scoring form and help his team secure a vital win.
