It’s Bawumia Time- Annoh-Dompreh Tells NPP Delegates

BY Daniel Bampoe

The Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has made a passionate case for the return of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, urging delegates across the Eastern Region to rally behind the former Vice President as the party prepares for the crucial 2028 General Elections.

Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s campaign stop in Nsawam, Annoh-Dompreh declared that the NPP needs a leader with proven competence, innovative ideas, and a track record that reflects the party’s future. To him, the answer is clear: Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“If John Mahama became President, lost in 2016, and returned as President in 2025, then Dr. Bawumia will also return as President in 2029,” Annoh-Dompreh told delegates.

“We must bring him back as our flagbearer. He is the right man for this moment.”

A Welcoming Crowd

Dr. Bawumia received a rousing welcome upon arriving in Nsawam, where delegates and party supporters — led by Annoh-Dompreh — filled the streets to meet him.

Although the former Vice President had come to interact specifically with delegates, the turnout grew beyond expectations, showcasing the constituency’s admiration and support.

Why Bawumia Must Lead Again

The Nsawam MP highlighted several reasons why the NPP must rally behind Dr. Bawumia:

Proven leadership: Annoh-Dompreh praised Bawumia’s tenure as Vice President, noting his pivotal role in Ghana’s digitalisation drive and economic reform agenda under the Akufo-Addo administration.

Modern vision: He insisted that Bawumia represents the modern future of the NPP — a forward-looking leader with solutions fit for a changing world.

Loyalty and service: According to the MP, Bawumia has remained loyal to the party, consistently supporting constituencies and MPs, including Nsawam-Adoagyiri.

Electoral strength: Annoh-Dompreh believes Bawumia is the NPP’s best shot at recapturing power in 2028.

“Dr. Bawumia has done us no wrong. He has helped our constituency and supported me personally. He deserves our unflinching support,” he emphasized.

Bawumia Responds With Gratitude

Dr. Bawumia, touched by the endorsement, expressed appreciation for Annoh-Dompreh’s leadership and loyalty.

He described the MP as “a good man” and a committed servant of the people, promising to work closely with him if entrusted with the presidency.

He also renewed his appeal to delegates to entrust him with the mandate to lead the NPP.

“On January 31st, I am asking you to vote massively for me. I have served the party faithfully and demonstrated with my ideas what leadership can achieve. I want to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections and bring us back to government,” he told the gathering.

A Partnership Driving Momentum

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the development of Nsawam-Adoagyiri. With Annoh-Dompreh positioning himself as one of Bawumia’s strongest advocates and the constituency showing overwhelming enthusiasm, the former Vice President’s Eastern Regional tour continues to gain strong traction.
