Gospel musician Florence Obinim has publicly addressed growing speculation surrounding her recent physical appearance, firmly dismissing claims that she has undergone cosmetic surgery and attributing her transformation to prolonged fasting and spiritual discipline.

The singer, who is also the wife of renowned preacher Bishop Daniel Obinim, became the centre of online debate after a video showing her slimmer physique and altered facial appearance circulated widely on social media.

The footage triggered intense reactions, with some social media users alleging she had undergone cosmetic enhancement to look younger or resemble other female celebrities.

In an emotional response, Florence Obinim described the claims as painful and misleading, stressing that her appearance is the result of deep spiritual commitment rather than cosmetic intervention.

Speaking during an interview and in subsequent videos, she explained that she has spent extended periods in prayer and fasting, sometimes lasting up to 40, 60, and even 120 days, as part of her spiritual support for her husband’s ministry

According to her, these extended fasts significantly affected her body weight and physical appearance, but were sacrifices she willingly made in pursuit of spiritual growth and ministry impact.

She added that she has never undergone any surgical procedure to alter her looks, dismissing such claims as false and hurtful.

The gospel singer also addressed rumours suggesting she was trying to imitate actress Benedicta Gafah, describing such narratives as baseless attempts to tarnish her image.

She noted that public figures often become targets of unfounded accusations, particularly when their appearance changes.

In a highly emotional moment, Florence Obinim expressed frustration over what she described as persistent online attacks, stating that the accusations had caused her emotional distress.

She went as far as invoking divine justice against individuals she believes are deliberately spreading falsehoods about her life and body.

The controversy has reignited public discussion around body shaming, the pressure placed on women in the public eye, and the scrutiny faced by religious figures and their families.

While some social media users criticised her reaction as extreme, others came to her defence, praising her for speaking openly about the toll of public judgment and the sacrifices she has made for her faith and family.

Despite the backlash, Florence Obinim maintains that she remains focused on her spiritual journey and music ministry.

She has hinted at a return to active music production once she completes what she describes as a personal season of sacrifice and prayer.
