High Court Grants Baba Amando Bail

The General Jurisdiction 2 division of the High Court has granted bail to Abubakar Yakubu, popularly known as Baba Amando, the Sunyani East Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), following his earlier remand by an Accra Circuit Court.

The court admitted him to bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 with two sureties and directed him to report to the police every two weeks as investigations continue.

Yakubu was initially arrested on April 13, 2026, by the Police over allegations of offensive conduct, false publication, and the circulation of statements considered likely to incite fear and panic.

His remand on April 14 had attracted significant public and political attention, with authorities intensifying efforts to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.

Yakubu is accused of sharing derogatory images of the President and some members of the ruling government on social media linking them to LGBTQ+ —claims that have further heightened scrutiny of the case.

The development marks a new phase in the ongoing legal process, as investigators continue to establish the full facts.

The bail conditions imposed by the High Court are expected to ensure Yakubu’s availability while the probe progresses, with the case likely to remain under close public watch in the coming weeks.
