Didi Dramani Concerned As Hearts Of Oak’s Winless Run

BY Nadia Ntiamoah

Head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Didi Dramani, has expressed growing concern over his side’s inability to secure victories after the club’s latest setback in the Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians were held to a 2-2 draw by Swedru All Blacks at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, extending their winless streak to five matches and dealing a blow to their title ambitions.

Despite sitting fourth on the league table with 43 points, Hearts of Oak now trail the league leaders by six points, increasing pressure on the team as the season enters a decisive phase.

The match itself reflected the club’s recent struggles. Hearts were forced to come from behind, with second-half goals from Mawuli Wayo and Frank Duku salvaging a point after a difficult opening period. While the team showed resilience to avoid defeat, their inability to control games and convert chances into wins has become a recurring issue.

Speaking after the match, Dramani acknowledged the team’s attacking inefficiency as a major concern.

“I think that the most important thing is that we need to win games. And so it’s worrying when we don’t win games, especially when you are creating chances and then you are not converting,” he said.

The coach’s remarks highlight a growing frustration within the camp, as Hearts continue to create scoring opportunities but fail to capitalize on them—an issue that could prove costly in the title race.

Historically, Hearts of Oak remain one of Ghana’s most successful clubs, with high expectations from supporters every season. However, their recent form has cast doubt over their ability to maintain a serious challenge for the league title, especially with rivals picking up crucial points.

Attention now turns to their next fixture, where Hearts of Oak will host Young Apostles in Matchweek 30. The encounter presents an opportunity for the Phobians to end their poor run and regain momentum as they attempt to close the gap on the league leaders.
