KGL Group Pays GHS153m In Taxes

By Daniel Bampoe

The KGL Group has reaffirmed its position as a key contributor to Ghana’s economy after presenting GHS 153 million in corporate income tax to the Ghana Revenue Authority at a tax compliance event held in Accra.

The presentation, which took place at the GRA Head Office on April 16, 2026, underscores the Group’s continued commitment to responsible corporate governance and national development. It also highlights the growing role of indigenous Ghanaian companies in supporting the country’s fiscal strength through tax compliance.

Corporate Responsibility Beyond Obligation

Speaking at the ceremony, Executive Chairman of KGL Group, Alex Apau Dadey, emphasized that paying taxes should not be viewed merely as a legal requirement but as a civic duty tied to nation-building.

“At KGL, we create value, and we share that value responsibly. Paying tax is not a burden; it is our contribution from what we have achieved as a business operating in this country,” he stated.

He further disclosed that in 2025 alone, the Group made total direct payments of GHS 350 million to the state, including GHS 180 million remitted to the National Lottery Authority.

According to him, these contributions reflect the Group’s strong sense of accountability and its belief in giving back to the economy that supports its operations.

Driving Indigenous Business Growth

Dadey noted that KGL’s contributions demonstrate the increasing capacity of local enterprises to drive Ghana’s development agenda. He stressed that Ghanaian-owned companies possess the discipline and integrity required to compete globally while supporting domestic economic transformation.

The Group also reiterated its alignment with the vision of President John Dramani Mahama, particularly his advocacy for strengthening local ownership and promoting transformational partnerships within the private sector.

Investment In Social Impact

Beyond its tax contributions, KGL continues to invest heavily in social development through the KGL Foundation, with over GHS40 million committed to community initiatives. These include support for sports development—such as sponsorship of the Black Stars and the Regional U-17 Colts Championship—as well as infrastructure projects like the KGL–EVE Medical Centre in Kumasi and the Alex Dadey University of Ghana Alumni Centre.

GRA Commends Compliance

The event, facilitated by Dr. Martin Kolbil Yamborigya, Commissioner, Domestic Tax Revenue Division, DTRD, Commissioner, also saw commendation from the GRA for KGL Group’s exemplary compliance record.

He noted that such contributions are crucial in enabling government to mobilise domestic revenue and fund key national development programmes.
