Seed Of Indecency Has Germinated

The hurling of offensive remarks against those we do not agree with politically has germinated, its roots gaining foothold across the country’s landscape uncontrollably, like water hyacinth.

With social media at its beck and call the tendency is threatening local values never witnessed before in the country. While the anomaly benefits bad politicians who are sponsoring it the society in general is losing its values by the improper behaviour.

The anomaly which is anathema in all the faiths and culture was planted by the NDC.

Today the man the party engaged to be hurling insults at opponents of the political grouping, some of which targets are first class traditional authorities, lives abroad. With assured government protection which was activated when he landed in Ghana as a court summons awaited him he can do as he wish including threatening the Director-General of the CID.

NPP youth have served notice to respond in kind when elders of their party are insulted. We do not know where this is going to end but we can bet the endgame is anything but acceptable and in the interest of our values.

Social media is abuzz with assortment of hate posts which are tearing the country’s socio-political fabric in a manner which sends fears down the spines of elders.

A couple of days ago one of the top chiefs in the country was depicted in gay rainbow colours an act which sought doubtlessly to denigrate him and the chieftaincy institution.

Unfortunately there is little or no reaction about the anomalous conduct which is there for the growing generation to watch and perhaps emulate.

At the time this nonsense started with top politicians in the NDC sponsoring it many did not know things could degenerate to this level. The most abused President in the country’s history Nana Akufo-Addo endured the insults without blinking as though nothing was happening.

Sammy Gyamfi the man rewarded for his unenviable yeoman’s task of hurling unprintable invectives on the former President and those dissenting to the ways of the NDC has been befittingly rewarded with a juicy appointment so he can continue the verbal attacks.

With his unadmiring baggage of mastering the art of lying otherwise dubbed propaganda, misinformation and disinformation et al to win political power he has found time off the challenging task of managing for profit the Goldbod to join the futile propaganda efforts of the Bank of Ghana.

With the apex bank herself admitting the loss against his outright denial the wages of lying is there for all to see and condemn. Decency Vrs Uncivility is what has unfolded as Sammy Gyamfi dares Kojo Opong Nkrumah MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi for a debate not in Parliament but in a television station on the issue of the now politicized country’s apex bank. How ludicrous! Kojo Opong Nkrumah represents decency while Sammy Gyamfi on the other hand does the contrary.

The former’s names evoke decorum a detestation of communication strategy preferred by liars and the uncouth…gutter politics is what some call it. The man daring him with both feet in the gutter must be avoided by all means.

In politics the actors called politicians have their individual attributes. Some have enviable pedigrees which makes them fitting candidates for role models…they stand tall. Parents on the other hand would rather their children do not watch the conduct of others because of their toxic influence on them.

Ghanaians acknowledge them who led the propaganda and lies against their political opponents some the age of their fathers.

Now the chickens have come to roost and even the vulnerable who fell for the mendacious tales are the wiser. Time is really telling.
