The Coalition of Muslim Organisations, Ghana (COMOGThe Coalition of Muslim Organisations, Ghana (COMOG), has called on Muslims and all Ghanaians to embrace the values of sacrifice, unity, discipline and responsible leadership as the country marks this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.

In a goodwill message issued to commemorate the sacred Islamic festival, COMOG said Eid-ul-Adha was not only a period of celebration but also a moment for deep reflection on faith, obedience, devotion and selflessness as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).

Quoting verses from the Holy Qur’an, the organisation explained that the festival symbolises total submission to the will of Allah and the importance of sincerity and righteousness in worship.

According to COMOG, the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah remains one of the greatest examples of faith and commitment in human history.

The statement referenced Surah As-Saffat 37:107, which states: “And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,” adding that the lesson of Eid-ul-Adha goes beyond the ritual slaughtering of animals.

COMOG further cited Surah Al-Hajj 22:37, which says: “It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him,” stressing that the true essence of the festival lies in piety, obedience, discipline and moral uprightness.

The coalition therefore urged Muslims to renew their commitment to taqwa, righteousness and service to humanity while reflecting those values in their homes, workplaces and communities.

The organisation also appealed to parents to nurture children with Islamic values, discipline, education, love and moral responsibility to help build stronger families and responsible future generations.

COMOG further called on traditional leaders, religious leaders, scholars, opinion leaders and community heads to promote peace, justice, compassion and unity above personal interests.

Political leaders and public office holders were equally urged to embrace honesty, accountability, integrity and selfless service in the discharge of their duties for the development of the nation.

According to the organisation, Ghana currently requires strong moral leadership, national unity and compassion to overcome its challenges and strengthen social cohesion.

COMOG stressed that the lessons of Eid-ul-Adha should continue beyond the festivities and inspire citizens to make meaningful sacrifices for their families, communities and the country.

The coalition concluded by praying for peace, unity, prosperity and Allah’s blessings upon Ghana and wished Muslims and all Ghanaians a happy Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

“May Allah accept our sacrifices, forgive our shortcomings, strengthen our faith, and bless Ghana with peace, unity, and prosperity,” the statement said.
