News Desk

The University of Ghana Sports Stadium was thrown into a frenzy on Saturday morning as Dr. Bryan Acheampong, a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), made a grand entrance to the Party’s National Annual Delegates Conference.

Wearing his trademark white shirt, beaming with energy, and flanked by chanting youth, Acheampong was instantly surrounded by waves of delegates, constituency executives, TESCON members, Eastern Regional Caucus leaders, and enthusiastic party foot soldiers, all eager to welcome him as the new face of the NPP.

His arrival quickly became one of the highlights of the day. In a heartfelt post shared shortly after making his way into the stadium, Dr. Acheampong said:

“I’m deeply moved by the warm reception from delegates and supporters as I arrived at the National Conference today. Grateful for the energy, encouragement, and belief in what we can build together. Let’s unite and rebuild!”

Surge In Grassroots Energy

From all corners of the stadium, chants of “BA”, “BA” rose as he waded through the crowd. Young men and women clung to barriers, trying to get close enough to snap selfies or extend a handshake.

Several groups led a vibrant charge of youth excitement, singing party anthems and waving flags bearing the NPP’s elephant symbol.

“He doesn’t just show up, he connects,” said one delegate. “He looked us in the eyes, greeted us like brothers, and reminded us of why he’s the one to lead the party forward.”

What was meant to be a brief entry quickly turned into a political moment of its own.

His arrival, while unaccompanied by any official speech, radiated the aura of a frontrunner with a growing grassroots movement behind him.

Some young supporters broke into spontaneous chants of his name, while others livestreamed the moment to social media, adding to the buzz already surrounding his candidacy.

“We are here because BA gives us hope,” said a TESCON organizer from the Ashanti Region. “He’s the kind of leader who actually talks with the youth—not at them.”

Eastern Region in full force

The Eastern Regional Caucus, regarded as one of the most influential power blocs in the party, came out in full force.

Constituency chairpersons, women organizers, and regional youth coordinators moved together in a show of solidarity that was impossible to miss — a subtle but bold message directed at floating delegates and fence-sitters within the party.

While the stadium buzzed with activity, Dr. Acheampong appeared calm, composed, and deliberate.

He took his time interacting with delegates, posing for photos, and accepting blessings from party elders. Notably, vendors and onlookers joined the cheers, some even offering him sachets of water, and others lifting crates of plantain chips to toast his arrival.

One memorable image captured him smiling broadly while raising his fist in the air—a gesture that has come to symbolize his campaign’s theme of unity and restoration.

Behind him, aides and supporters formed a protective but respectful ring, allowing the crowd just enough access to feel included.

What does this mean for the race

The warm reception of Bryan Acheampong has further fueled speculation that he will emerge as a formidable contender in the 2026 flagbearership race.

His growing appeal among young people, regional executives, and grassroots organizers positions him uniquely in a party eager for generational transition.
