Ghanaian actress Akorfa Edjeani Asiedu has officially assumed her new role as the Investment and Tourism Envoy to Türkiye, transitioning from a celebrated career in the creative arts into a position focused on promoting Ghana’s economic, tourism and cultural interests abroad.
The veteran actress announced the development in an Instagram post on, describing the appointment not simply as a new position but as a responsibility she has accepted with humility, gratitude and a strong sense of duty.
The new assignment represents an opportunity to deploy her extensive experience in the creative sector to support broader national interests, particularly in investment promotion, tourism and cultural diplomacy.
Akorfa Edjeani has spent decades building a reputation in the
film and entertainment industry, becoming one of the recognisable figures in the country’s creative landscape. Her move into the diplomatic and investment space therefore marks a significant shift in the direction of her public career.
However, rather than distancing herself from the creative industry that made her a household name, the actress intends to make the sector part of her new mandate.
She believes the creative industries can be used not only for entertainment but also as tools for economic development, international engagement and investment attraction.
According to her, sectors including music, film, fashion, art and design have the capacity to showcase Ghanaian identity internationally while opening new economic opportunities.
She described creativity as having “the power to tell our story to the world while creating new pathways for investment and growth.”
