Bawumia Visits Ga Mantse After Accident

By Nadia Ntiamoah

The New Patriotic Party, NPP, presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II following reports of an accident involving the traditional ruler, in a gesture that combined personal concern, political symbolism, and deep respect for the chieftaincy institution.

Dr. Bawumia’s visit, which took place shortly after news of the incident became public, was aimed at formally conveying his heartfelt well wishes and prayers for the Ga Mantse’s full and speedy recovery.

Sources close to the visit indicate that the NPP flagbearer used the opportunity to express solidarity with the Ga State, acknowledging the emotional and cultural significance of the Ga Mantse not only to his people but to the broader Ghanaian society.

The visit was framed as a humanitarian and traditional courtesy, rather than a political campaign activity, in line with long-standing Ghanaian customs that require national leaders and prominent figures to show respect and support to traditional authorities in times of crisis.

The Ga Mantse occupies one of the most influential traditional positions in southern Ghana, serving as the paramount chief of the Ga State and a custodian of Ga culture, customs, and land.

Dr. Bawumia’s gesture also fits into a broader political tradition in Ghana, where national leaders routinely engage chiefs and traditional rulers as part of governance and nation-building.
