Black Starlets Gear Up For WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship

The Black Starlets have wrapped up their preparations ahead of the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.

The team, led by head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, completed their final training session on Sunday at the University of Ghana Stadium Annex.

This intensive training marks the culmination of four weeks of rigorous preparation in camp, aimed at fine-tuning the team’s skills and strategies for the tournament.

Tournament Details

The WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship kicks off on September 20, 2025, in Yamoussoukro, and serves as a qualifying event for the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana has been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Togo, and Niger.

The Black Starlets will play their group matches at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium, with fixtures against:

– Togo: Saturday, September 20, 6:00 p.m.

– Ivory Coast: Tuesday, September 23, 6:00 p.m.

– Niger: Friday, September 26, 3:00 p.m.

Reclaiming Dominance

As two-time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions, the Black Starlets are determined to reclaim their dominance in continental football.

Dr. Ogum expressed confidence in his team’s abilities, stating, “We have had a very productive camp, and the players have shown great commitment. We are going to Côte d’Ivoire, determined to compete and make Ghanaians proud.”
