The entertainment and political fraternity has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of veteran actor, comedian, broadcaster and politician, Seth Kwame Dzokoto.
The 51-year-old reportedly collapsed in the early hours of Thursday, October 22, 2026, while serving as a panellist on the morning show of Owass FM, popularly known as Owass Radio, in Tarkwa in the Western Region. At the time of his sudden seizure, he was bashing former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on the station.
According to information gathered, Dzokoto was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Tarkwa after the incident, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
His death was confirmed by a close source within the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Western Regional Communications Officer of the party, Kirk Mensah, confirmed the incident, stating: “Our comrade
Kwame Dzokoto of the Efiewura and Edziban fame on a panel discussion on Owass Radio in Tarkwa collapsed and pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.”
Eyewitness accounts from the livestream of the show, which was being broadcast on Owass FM’s Facebook page, indicate that the actor appeared to be struggling for breath in the latter part of the discussion.
He was seen handing over a bottle of water to another guest before the camera became shaky and the broadcast was abruptly cut off.
The circumstances leading to his collapse are still unclear, though his health had been a subject of public concern in recent weeks.
Kwame Dzokoto rose to national prominence through his unforgettable portrayal of Judge Koboo in the long-running popular Ghanaian television series, Efiewura. His comic timing and unique delivery made the character a household name and endeared him to millions of Ghanaians.
He further demonstrated his versatility as a television host with TV3’s food, tourism and culture programme, Edziban, which explored Ghanaian cuisine and culinary heritage across the country. He also featured in other productions including Osumesi.
Beyond television, Dzokoto was a seasoned broadcaster. He worked with several radio stations, including Skyy Power FM in Takoradi and Hello FM in Kumasi, and was also known for his work in comedy and advertising voice-overs.
Outside entertainment, Dzokoto ventured into active partisan politics under the banner of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He contested the Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary seat on the ticket of the party in the 2016 election, earning recognition as both an entertainer and a public figure.
His reported passing comes barely weeks after images of him looking visibly unwell circulated widely on social media, sparking concern among fans.
In September 2026, Dzokoto himself had publicly dismissed rumours of his death in an interview on B.E. TV. In that interview, he revealed that he was battling high blood pressure and diabetes and had undergone surgery outside the country with support from businessman Ibrahim Mahama.
He had then stated emphatically, “I’m not dead.”
At the time of filing this report, there had not been official statement from his family regarding the cause of death.
