The Duayaw Nkwanta Police Command in the Ahafo Region has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of one of its officers, Sergeant Brown, who allegedly took his own life while on duty.

According to preliminary reports, the 40-year-old officer, who was married to a nurse, was found lifeless inside the charge office of the station on Friday morning.

Sources within the police service indicated that Sergeant Brown allegedly discharged his service weapon beneath his chin, resulting in his instant death.

Witnesses and colleagues disclosed that the officer was alone at the time of the incident, making the discovery all the more shocking when his body was later found by other personnel reporting for duty.

The Ghana Police Service has not yet issued an official statement on the incident, but internal investigations are underway to establish the circumstances that led to the tragedy.

It remains unclear whether Sergeant Brown left behind a note or communicated his distress to anyone prior to the act.

At Duayaw Nkwanta, the mood remains somber as colleagues and residents struggle to come to terms with the sudden death of the officer, who was widely known in the community.

The body of the deceased has since been conveyed to the morgue for preservation and autopsy as investigations continue.
