The conference was held under the theme “Growth. Transformation. Evolving Together,” bringing together stakeholders from across Ghana to discuss the future of judo.

The conference followed the passing of the association’s former president, Emmanuel Tetteh, and was the first major gathering since his death.

The assembly elected a new six-member executive board through a simple yes-or-no vote. The newly elected officers are:
– Samuel Kenneth Arthur: President
– Reina Abbey: Vice President
– Kwasi Adu-Apau: General Secretary
– Kojo Twum Baah: Treasurer
– Paa Kofi Ewool: Executive Member
– Flt Lt. Eleazer Dodoo: Executive Member

New Administration’s Vision

Incoming General Secretary Kwasi Adu-Apau expressed confidence in the new board’s ability to uplift the association, vowing to promote judo nationwide.

“Having been elected to this board, we will do everything in our power to make judo great again as we have been given the mandate by the delegates, we will do our best.” Adu-Apau described his election as a great honor.

Elected executive member Paa Kofi Ewool emphasized the administration’s plan to prioritize engaging younger athletes to expand judo’s reach nationwide.

“For now, the key is to focus on the younger one; as we target them, the reach of judo naturally grows wider. We will also work to improve structures, training opportunities, and visibility to ensure judo becomes a sport for all.”

Future Prospects

With a refreshed constitution and newly elected leadership team in place, the Ghana Judo Association is poised to usher in a new era of growth, development, and renewed national engagement with the sport.

The association’s president, Samuel Kenneth Arthur, expressed optimism about the future, thanking attendees for their insights.

“With everything you delegates have proposed, we will move forward stronger than ever. Ghana Judo will go far, and together we’ll push our sport to new heights.”
