Ace broadcast journalist, Oheneyere Gifty Anti has been elevated into traditional leadership following her enstoolment as the Mpuntuhemaa (Development Queenmother) of Ekumfi Nanaben in the Central Region.

The honour, officially conferred on her on Saturday, November 29, 2025, marks a significant milestone in her long career of advocacy, community service, and national influence.

Her coronation, performed under the stool name Nana Efua Dansoa Nkuma I, took place during a colourful ceremony led by the Paramount Chief of Ekumfi, Odeefuo Akyin VIII, and the Chief of Ekumfi Nanaben, Nana Okofo Gyesi V.

The chiefs and elders explained that although Gifty Anti does not originate from the Ekumfi area, her consistent contribution to social development, particularly in the areas of women’s empowerment, education, and philanthropy, made her a befitting choice for the role.

Gifty Anti has, over the past two decades, cemented her status as one of Ghana’s most influential female figures. Through her media work, including the celebrated “Standpoint” programme, she has championed the rights of women and girls while advocating policy reforms to address gender inequality.

Her foundation has also supported numerous deprived communities with educational supplies, mentorship programmes, and development initiatives, earning her nationwide respect and recognition.

Expressing gratitude after her induction, Nana Efua Dansoa Nkuma I pledged to deepen her involvement in development efforts within Ekumfi Nanaben.

She emphasised her commitment to serving vulnerable populations and using her new platform to mobilise support for social transformation.

Her enstoolment formed part of the grand climax of the community’s annual Aboakyer Festival, which drew hundreds of residents, dignitaries, and admirers from across the region.

The festival, known for its vibrant cultural displays, provided an ideal backdrop for celebrating a woman whose life’s work embodies leadership, resilience, and service.

The people of Ekumfi Nanaben expressed optimism that her new role will inspire further development partnerships and spotlight the community on the national stage.
