Ghanaian rapper Kwaw Kese has revealed that he turned down a reported GH¢100,000 offer to perform at ShattaFest 2026, explaining that his commitment to attend the funeral of his mother-in-law in Kumasi would prevent him from participating in the highly anticipated music concert.
The rapper made the disclosure in a post on X on Thursday, October 15, 2026, where he explained that he would be mourning with his family and laying his mother-in-law to rest over the weekend.
His statement has since attracted attention from music fans, particularly given the reported amount attached to the performance offer and his relationship with Shatta Wale.
In his post, Kwaw Kese made it clear that his absence from ShattaFest was not due to a disagreement with the event organisers but rather a family obligation that he could not set aside.
“This weekend I’m mourning and burying my mother-in-law at Kumasi. That’s the reason I turned down the offer of 100k to perform at Shatta Fest. Like the way I go come spoil der,” he wrote.
The rapper’s message suggests that despite the reported GH¢100,000 offer, he had prioritised attending the funeral and supporting his family during a period of bereavement. Fans who reacted to the announcement offered condolences and sympathies to him and his family.
ShattaFest, organised by Shatta Wale, has become a major event on entertainment calendar, bringing together music lovers and performers for a celebration of Ghanaian music.
Although Kwaw Kese’s reported offer of GH¢100,000 has become a talking point, the rapper’s post did not provide further details about who made the offer or the specific arrangements attached to it. The amount therefore remains based on his own public account.
