NPA Sets New Fuel Price For Second Half Of October 2026

BY DANIEL BAMPOE

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has announced new minimum ex-pump price floors for petroleum products for the pricing window covering October 16 to October 31, 2026.

In a notice dated October 12, 2026, the Authority outlined the minimum prices applicable to petrol, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), marine gas oil (MGO) and kerosene under the country’s Petroleum Product Pricing Guidelines (PPPG).

Under the new schedule, petrol has an ex-pump price floor of GH¢16.09 per litre, while diesel is pegged at GH¢17.09 per litre.

LPG has been assigned a minimum price of GH¢13.87 per kilogram, while Marine Gas Oil (MGO) for the local market has a floor of GH¢17.20 per litre. Kerosene is listed at GH¢17.45 per litre.

The NPA has urged all Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs) to comply with the announced price floors throughout the pricing window.

The minimum prices announced by the NPA are as follows: Petrol: GH¢16.09 per litre; Diesel: GH¢17.09 per litre; LPG: GH¢13.87 per kilogram; Local Marine Gas Oil: GH¢17.20 per litre; Kerosene: GH¢17.45 per litre

The Authority clarified that the announced price floors do not include premiums charged by International Oil Trading Companies (IOTCs), the operating margins of Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies (BIDECs), or the marketing and dealer margins applied by OMCs and LPGMCs.

These charges are to be determined independently by the respective companies in accordance with the Petroleum Product Pricing Guidelines.

Consequently, the announced figures represent minimum ex-pump price levels rather than guaranteed final prices at every fuel station. Actual pump prices may vary depending on the additional charges and margins applied by individual market operators.

The NPA’s announcement forms part of its regulatory oversight of petroleum product pricing and is intended to guide operators during the second half of October.

The new price floors take effect for the October 16–31, 2026 pricing window.
