The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has constituted Regional Appeals Committees for all 16 regions as part of measures to ensure transparency, fairness and credibility in its ongoing Regional Executive Elections ahead of the August polls.
In a memorandum dated July 20, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Executive Committees, the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, announced the composition of the committees, which will be responsible for hearing and determining petitions arising from the vetting of aspirants contesting the regional executive elections.
The directive, which was also copied to the National Executive Committee (NEC) and all Regional Steering Committees, forms part of the party’s broader internal electoral roadmap aimed at reorganising its structures following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
The Regional Executive Elections are a critical stage in the NPP’s nationwide restructuring exercise, which has already seen the successful conduct of polling station, electoral area and constituency executive elections.
The regional polls are expected to produce a new leadership team that will oversee party affairs in the 16 regions before the National Delegates Conference scheduled for September 19, 2026, where national officers will be elected.
According to the memorandum, the Regional Appeals Committees have been established pursuant to Regulation 6 of the Rules and Regulations governing the conduct of the Regional Executive Elections.
The appeals process will officially commence on Friday, July 24, 2026, and end on Sunday, July 26, 2026, during which aggrieved aspirants and party members may challenge decisions taken by the Regional Elections Committees, particularly those arising from the vetting process.
Justin Kodua Frimpong urged members of the Appeals Committees to discharge their responsibilities with fairness, impartiality, professionalism, transparency and integrity.
He stressed that all appeals must be determined expeditiously and strictly in accordance with the NPP Constitution, the party’s election regulations and the principles of natural justice.
“The National Secretariat expects all Regional Appeals Committees to discharge their responsibilities with the utmost fairness, impartiality, diligence, professionalism, transparency and integrity,” the General Secretary stated.
The committees comprise experienced lawyers, senior party members and respected public figures drawn from across the country.
For the Eastern Region, the Appeals Committee comprises Emmanuel Agyapong Esq., Akosua Brefowaa Owusu Ansah Esq. and J.B. Afrifa Esq.
The Greater Accra Region committee consists of Dr. Sylvester Nyamekye Esq., Ambrose Tsegah and Christabel Q.A. Derby Esq., while the Ashanti Region committee is made up of Shadrack Obeng-Yeboah Esq., Kwame Antwi Afriyie Esq. and Margaret Mary Agyei-Twum Esq.
In the Central Region, members are Daniel Arthur Esq., Michael Arthur Dadzie Esq. and Daniel Appianin, with the Western Region represented by Akpene Darko-Cobbina Esq., Philip Kwesi Nkrumah Esq. and Emily Akua Afriyieh Mensah Esq.
The Volta Region committee comprises Frank Selorm Komla Asare Esq., Dr. Albert Kweku Bediako Esq. and Abena Safoa Esq., while Western North will be served by Francis Yenzu Appiah Esq., Eric Owusu Antwi Esq. and Ebenezer Abiaw Esq.
Other committees include Tony Danquah Esq., Enoch K. Lelabi Esq. and Joyce Owusuaa Baafi Esq. for the Oti Region; Boamah Frimpong Esq., Kwaku Agyeman Badu Jnr. Esq. and Irene Osei Addo Esq. for the Bono Region; Nana Sekyere-Boateng Esq., Amadu Bermah Suleman Esq. and Georgina Gyebi Esq. for Bono East; and Frederick Kankam-Boadu Esq., Ernest Kyei Esq. and Monique Ohenewaa Nkrumah Esq. for the Ahafo Region.
The Savannah Region committee comprises Hon. James Kipo Sonyazi, Hon. Saeed Muazu Jibril and Bavug Latif Esq., while the Northern Region committee is made up of Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam, Deen Aliu Mohammed Esq. and Isaac Borido Esq.
For the Upper West Region, the committee members are Clement Eledi Esq., Kofi Adjei Obeng Esq. and Tizzala Eddy Kaleonaa, while the Upper East Region committee comprises Hon. Tangoba Abayage, Mohammed Tahiru Nambe Esq. and Nicholas Soyire Esq.
The North East Region committee consists of Seidu Hamidu Nasigri Esq., Ishaq Ibrahim Esq. and Ibrahim Kande.
The establishment of the Appeals Committees comes after nominations for the Regional Executive Elections closed and vetting of aspirants commenced across the country.
Under the party’s electoral calendar, successful aspirants will proceed to elections scheduled for August 15 and August 16, 2026, where delegates will elect regional executives, including Regional Chairmen, Vice Chairpersons, Secretaries, Organisers, Women’s Organisers, Youth Organisers, Nasara Organisers, Treasurers and Communications Officers.
The NPP leadership has repeatedly maintained that the ongoing internal elections are intended to strengthen the party’s structures, deepen internal democracy and prepare the opposition party for a stronger showing in the 2028 general elections.
