Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant for the Suhum Constituency, Richard Yermoh Boakye, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Eastern Regional Deputy Youth Organizer, seeking to expand his role in the party after years of service at both the constituency and national levels.
Mr. Yermoh, who contested in the NDC parliamentary primaries in Suhum ahead of the 2024 general elections but was unsuccessful, says his latest decision is inspired by a desire to continue serving the party and strengthening its youth structures across the Eastern Region.
His declaration comes as the NDC prepares for its internal regional elections following the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections.
In a statement announcing his bid, Richard Yermoh Boakye reflected on what he described as nearly two decades of active service to the National Democratic Congress.
According to him, his political journey began during his days at the University of Ghana, where he served as President of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), the student wing of the NDC.
Over the years, he has held several strategic positions within the party, including serving as Deputy Director of Volunteers and Surrogates for the National Youth Wing and as a member of the NDC Youth Manifesto Committee, where he contributed to the development of policies targeted at young people.
He also played an active role in the party’s 2024 national campaign as a member of the youth campaign team that helped secure electoral victory for the NDC.
Mr. Yermoh stated that after extensive consultations with party leaders, grassroots members, colleagues and well-wishers, coupled with what he described as divine guidance, he had decided to officially contest for the office of Eastern Regional Deputy Youth Organizer.
He said his ambition is driven by the belief that the youth remain the backbone of the NDC and that there is still significant work to be done to strengthen youth participation, mobilization and grassroots organization throughout the Eastern Region.
He pledged to bring his experience, energy and commitment to the office if given the mandate.
The aspiring regional executive further called on party members and supporters across the Eastern Region to rally behind his candidature.
According to him, unity, effective organization and grassroots mobilization will be essential in consolidating the gains made by the NDC and positioning the party for future electoral success.
Running his campaign under the slogans #YERMOH4ERDYO, #YERMOHGETSITDONE and #THEGRASSROOTYERMOH, Richard Yermoh Boakye says he is committed to building a stronger youth front capable of advancing the ideals of the National Democratic Congress while empowering young people to play active roles in the party’s growth and development.
