Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has called for composure within the Manchester City camp as the Premier League title race intensifies, urging his teammates to remain focused during the decisive final stretch of the season.
City returned from the international break in emphatic fashion, thrashing Liverpool 4–0 and securing a place in the FA Cup semi-finals — a result that keeps alive their ambitions of winning a domestic treble.
The victory not only reinforced their strength across competitions but also sent a strong signal to title rivals Arsenal.
Despite the momentum, City still face a significant challenge in the league standings.
Arsenal currently lead Guardiola’s side by nine points, although City hold a crucial game in hand that could narrow the gap. With the race entering its final phase, every fixture now carries heightened importance.
Attention now shifts to a key Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where City have the opportunity to maintain pressure on the leaders.
The stakes are further raised by Arsenal’s upcoming fixture on April 19, which could have a major bearing on the title outcome.
Speaking ahead of the crucial run of games, Semenyo emphasised the importance of mental discipline and readiness, highlighting the need for calmness amid growing pressure.
“We’ve got a good team, we know that. We just have to stay calm and just make sure that once the games come, we’re ready to go,” he said
He reinforced the message by stressing the importance of consistency and focus as the fixtures come thick and fast.
“So just a matter of being calm and then ready to go. Just hit the ground running,” he added.
Since his January arrival from AFC Bournemouth, the 26-year-old forward has made a significant impact at the Etihad Stadium. He has already scored five goals in nine Premier League matches, quickly establishing himself as a key attacking option in Guardiola’s squad.
Semenyo’s influence has extended beyond goals, with his energy, direct running and tactical awareness providing City with an added dimension in attack during a crucial period of the campaign.
