What was meant to be a celebration of youth, talent and sportsmanship has turned into a tragedy for the community of Awutu Obrachire Senior High Technical School, following a brutal attack on one of its students during a district-level inter-school athletics competition in Agona Swedru.

Following the violent attack, allegedly orchestrated by students of Swedru Business School, three students of Obrachire SHTS who were found with dangerous weapons have been arrested by the police for further investigations.

The incident occurred during the District Schools Athletics Games, an annual sporting event that brings together students from various senior high and technical schools across the area to compete in track and field activities.

These competitions are traditionally organised to promote discipline, unity, teamwork and healthy rivalry among schools.

Attack in the Midst of Competition

According to multiple accounts, the student from Obrachire was allegedly attacked by a group of students from Swebusco school during the zonal athletics event.

The assault reportedly took place in the middle of the competition environment, turning what should have been a festive gathering into a scene of chaos and fear.

Eyewitnesses say the victim was severely beaten, sustaining critical injuries that left him in a life-threatening condition.

Graphic footage of the incident has reportedly circulated privately, but cannot be publicly shared due to its disturbing nature and content restrictions.

Conflicting Reports, One Tragic Reality

While initial reports indicated that the student was battling for his life, subsequent information suggests that the victim may have died days after the attack, though official confirmation from authorities is still pending.

The lack of a clear public statement has deepened anxiety and grief within the school community and among parents.
