Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah’s bid to lead Sudan’s National Men’s Football Team to the final of the 2024 CHAN tournament has come to an end. Sudan lost 1-0 to Madagascar in the semifinals, with Toky Niaina scoring the decisive goal in the 116th minute.

A Numerical Advantage

Despite having a man advantage for almost an hour, Sudan was unable to capitalize on their opponent’s numerical disadvantage.

Madagascar’s Gilles Razafimaro was shown a straight red card in the 79th minute for a rash challenge, but Sudan’s attackers were unable to find the back of the net.

A Chance For Bronze

Sudan’s run in the CHAN competition may not be over yet, as they will compete in the third-place game on Friday, August 29, at 15:00 GMT.

The Falcons of Jediane will face off against the loser of the other semifinal match.

Appiah’s Reaction

After the match, Appiah praised his team’s efforts, saying, “Sudan wasted too many chances against Madagascar.”

He also expressed pride in his team’s performance, saying, “Sudan will improve its performances in the future.”
