The Military Police of the Ghana Armed Forces have arrested Warrant Officer Class I (WOI) Williams Mensah, the soldier captured in a viral CCTV video assaulting a pharmacy attendant and a female customer at Burma Camp in Accra.
The incident, which has sparked nationwide outrage, occurred late Wednesday night at a privately owned pharmacy located within the military enclave.
In the video, WOI Mensah, who was in a mufti at the time, stormed the pharmacy demanding a refund of ₵65 for medication he had earlier sent a young boy to purchase.
The attendant on duty explained that, under pharmaceutical regulations, medicines sold cannot be returned once dispensed — a policy aimed at preventing contamination and ensuring patient safety.
This response, however, allegedly infuriated the soldier, leading to a violent confrontation.
CCTV footage obtained shows the soldier physically assaulting the male attendant and slapping a female customer who had intervened during the altercation. The female customer is said to a daughter a senior military officer.
The woman, later identified as the daughter of a former Provost Marshal of the Ghana Military Police, appeared visibly shaken in the footage.
The video quickly went viral across social media platforms, drawing widespread condemnation from the public and calls for swift disciplinary action.
Military sources have confirmed that following the viral outrage, WOI Mensah was immediately arrested by the Military Police.

Preliminary investigations have begun, and he is reportedly being processed to be detached from his current assignment at the Jubilee House and returned to his base unit within the Ghana Air Force.
As of press time, official statements from the Ghana Armed Forces Public Affairs Directorate are expected to clarify the next line of action, as pressure mounts on the institution to demonstrate zero tolerance for abuse of power within its ranks.
