Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has refuted reports suggesting that he might leave his role ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.

Bjorkegren led the team to qualify for the tournament, which will be held in Morocco next year, with a 7-0 aggregate scoreline over Egypt.

Bjorkegren emphasized his commitment to the team, stating that he had turned down other offers to work with the Black Queens.

“To be completely honest, I had another 14 offers at the time I signed for Ghana. I wanted to be here in Ghana, and I think I can help the girls,” he said.

“Together, I think we are on the way to something really, really good, so I’m here to stay with the girls.”

The 2026 Women’s AFCON will serve as qualifiers to the 2027 Women’s World Cup, with the semifinalists automatically qualifying for the Mundial.

Bjorkegren’s experience and expertise will be crucial in guiding the team through this important tournament. With his commitment to the team, fans can expect big things from the Black Queens in the coming years.
