The Member of Parliament for Atiwa East Constituency in the Eastern Region, Abena Osei-Asare, has spearheaded a constituency-wide breast cancer screening exercise aimed at promoting early detection and awareness among women during the national Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The initiative, organized in collaboration with the Enyiresi Government Hospital, formed part of the MP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community-based healthcare delivery in Atiwa East.
The medical outreach team covered several towns including Moseaso, Adasawase, Ankaase, Asamang Tamfoe, Sekyere, New Jejeti, Kadewaso, Anyinam, Abakoase, Awosoase, and Tiawia — reaching close to 1,000 women across the constituency.
During her visit to some of the screening centres on Saturday, Osei-Asare expressed her appreciation to the women who participated and emphasized the importance of early diagnosis in saving lives.

She disclosed that while most of the screening results were normal, a few participants received referrals for further medical examination.
She assured that her office would take personal responsibility for the referred cases, promising that all those requiring further treatment or care will receive it at no cost.
“Whatever the outcome of these referrals may be, I am personally committed to ensuring they receive the treatment and care they need,” she stated.
The MP further encouraged women in the constituency to remain proactive about their health, advising those who could not attend the screening to seek immediate medical attention if they notice any unusual changes in their breasts.
