Two spectators, aged 70 and 78, died from cardiac arrests at the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, over the weekend.
The incidents occurred at different times at the Inalpi Arena, prompting immediate medical response and subsequent hospital transfers.
Statements From Authorities
The Italian Tennis Federation (FITP) and the ATP expressed their condolences, stating, “The FITP and the ATP express their deepest condolences following the tragic passing of two spectators yesterday during the ATP Finals in Turin.”
Medical personnel responded promptly, but unfortunately, both spectators passed away.
Match Delays
The first singles match between Lorenzo Musetti and Taylor Fritz was delayed due to a medical situation in the crowd.
The ATP Finals will continue this week at the 12,000-capacity venue.
