Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie has once again demonstrated his global influence after thrilling fans at London’s Royal Albert Hall, where he sold out the historic venue on March 6, 2026, coinciding with the 69th Independence Day.

The performance marked a historic moment not only for the award-winning rapper but also for African hip-hop, as he became the first African rapper to fill the prestigious auditorium.

The concert formed part of the international expansion of Sarkodie’s celebrated Rapperholic concert series, a music brand that has grown into one of Ghana’s most anticipated annual entertainment events.

Over the years, Rapperholic has evolved from a local show into a global platform showcasing Ghanaian music to international audiences, consistently attracting top performers and selling out major venues.

The London edition at Royal Albert Hall drew a diverse audience of Ghanaian and African music fans living in the United Kingdom and across Europe. With Ghana marking 69 years of independence, the atmosphere carried strong patriotic emotions as fans waved Ghanaian flags and celebrated the country’s culture through music.

Sarkodie delivered an energetic performance, taking fans through a catalogue of some of his most popular songs that have defined his career over the past decade.

The night was further elevated by the appearance of several internationally recognised artists who joined him on stage, including British-Ghanaian rap heavyweight Stormzy, Nigerian highlife star Flavour, Ghanaian singer King Promise, and UK-based Ghanaian musician Fuse ODG.

Their appearances created a memorable collaborative moment that underscored the growing influence of African music on the global stage.

During the historic concert, Sarkodie also revealed plans for an even larger edition of the Rapperholic UK concert. According to the rapper, the 2027 edition will be held at The O2 Arena in London, one of the United Kingdom’s most iconic entertainment venues with a capacity of approximately 20,000 seats.

The event is scheduled for March 6, 2027, and will coincide with the 70th anniversary of the independence, signalling a major expansion of the Rapperholic brand onto even bigger international stages.

Sarkodie’s milestone at the Royal Albert Hall adds to his long list of achievements in the music industry. Widely regarded as one of the most influential musicians, he has won numerous awards throughout his career, including Artiste of the Decade at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, cementing his reputation as a leading figure in African rap.

His latest success also places him among a growing number of African artists who have filled some of the world’s most prestigious concert venues. Nigerian superstar Wizkid previously made history by selling out The O2 Arena in 2018 and has since repeated the feat multiple times. Burna Boy has also sold out major arenas including Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl, while Davido has staged several sold-out shows at The O2 Arena during different tour cycles.

Other African stars have equally made their mark on the global touring circuit. South African DJ Black Coffee headlined and sold out Madison Square Garden, becoming the first South African DJ to achieve the milestone.

Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz has also performed to a sold-out audience at Royal Albert Hall, while Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage made history as the first African female artist to sell out Indigo at The O2.

Similarly, Nigerian Afropop star Yemi Alade recorded a sold-out show in Paris during her Mama Africa World Tour, while Beninese music legend Angélique Kidjo has filled iconic venues including Carnegie Hall during her international tours.
