Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed confidence in Leicester City F.C.’s ability to bounce back stronger despite the club’s relegation to English League One after a disappointing campaign.
The drop marks a significant fall for a side that once stood among England’s elite, but the young winger remains optimistic about the future.
Leicester’s season in the Championship was marred by inconsistency, with missed opportunities and poor runs of form ultimately costing them a place in the division.
Despite entering the campaign with high expectations, the club failed to maintain momentum, culminating in a painful relegation that has forced a period of reflection and rebuilding.
Fatawu Shines Amid Team Struggles
While Leicester struggled collectively, Issahaku emerged as one of the team’s standout performers. The enterprising winger delivered an impressive individual campaign, registering nine goals and seven assists, underlining his growing influence and attacking quality.
His performances provided rare bright moments in an otherwise difficult season for the Foxes.
Taking to social media after the season’s conclusion, Issahaku did not hide his disappointment.
He acknowledged the frustration shared by players and supporters alike, admitting that the outcome fell far below expectations.
“Appreciate all the support from the beginning of the season,” he wrote. “It’s disappointing to finish the season at this level. It’s not what we work for and it’s not good enough.”
Focus Shifts To Rebuilding
Despite the setback, the Ghanaian international struck a hopeful tone, emphasizing his belief in the club’s resilience.
“This club is amazing and I believe we’ll come back stronger,” he added, signaling a collective determination within the squad to respond positively.
Leicester’s relegation to the third tier represents a major setback for a club that famously won the Premier League title in 2016 and has remained a recognizable force in English football.
The focus will now turn to restructuring the squad, stabilizing performances, and mounting a strong promotion push next season.
