The Forecourt of the State House in Accra was filled with tears, prayers and heartfelt tributes on Saturday, August 8, 2026, as family members, friends, colleagues and admirers gathered to bid a final farewell to celebrated Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Beverly Afaglo, whose death on May 24, 2026, shocked Ghana’s entertainment industry.
The most emotional moment of the solemn ceremony unfolded when Beverly’s husband, Ghanaian musician Eugene Baah, popularly known as Choirmaster, walked slowly toward her casket accompanied by their two daughters. Unable to contain his grief, the former Praye member broke down in tears as he stood before the woman he described as his greatest source of strength, love and inspiration.
The heartbreaking scene left many mourners visibly emotional as the grieving husband struggled to compose himself while saying his final goodbye to the woman he had shared nearly a decade and a half of marriage with.
Delivering an emotional tribute, Choirmaster described Beverly as far more than a wife. He called her his heartbeat, best friend, soulmate, life partner and the devoted mother of their two daughters, saying her death had left an irreplaceable void in his life.
“My heartbeat, my baby. Today, my heart is shattered. I’m saying goodbye not only to my wife, but to my best friend, my partner, the mother of our daughters, and the woman who gave my life its meaning,” he said.
Reflecting on their years together, the musician recounted how Beverly had become the first person he thought about every morning and the last person he relied on each night.
According to him, some of his most treasured memories were not built around fame or public appearances but around the simple moments they shared as husband and wife—quiet conversations, family meals, evening prayers and watching their daughters grow together.
He praised Beverly for the countless sacrifices she made for their family, describing her as a woman who consistently placed the needs of her loved ones ahead of her own.
He said she possessed a rare ability to calm his fears, strengthen his faith and remind him that no challenge was too great when faced together.
While many Ghanaians knew Beverly Afaglo through her successful acting career and entrepreneurial ventures, including her Traffic Shabama business, Choirmaster said the public only saw part of the remarkable woman he was privileged to know privately.
He described her as compassionate, generous, deeply faithful and committed to touching lives both within and outside the entertainment industry.
According to him, her greatest achievement was not the fame she attained but the love she gave to her family and everyone around her.
Choirmaster also reflected on Beverly’s unwavering Christian faith throughout her health struggles. Quoting 2 Timothy 1:7, he noted that his late wife lived by the biblical principle that God had not given His people a spirit of fear but of power, love and self-discipline. He said Beverly confronted every challenge with courage, dignity and complete trust in God until the very end.
Addressing their daughters, the grieving father assured mourners that they would continue to uphold the values their mother instilled in them.
Although there would forever be an empty chair at the family table and an indescribable silence in their home, he pledged that Beverly’s love, lessons and legacy would continue to guide their lives.
“Our daughters and I will miss you every single day. There will be an empty chair at our table and a new silence in our home, but your love will remain with us always,” he declared.
Despite the overwhelming grief, Choirmaster said his family found comfort in the belief that Beverly was now resting peacefully in the presence of God after a courageous battle with illness.
