Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Hollywood ambitions have come under renewed scrutiny following reports that their production company, Archewell Productions, has significantly reduced its workforce over the past 12 to 18 months amid reported challenges surrounding some of its entertainment projects.
According to a report by Page Six cited by YEN.com.gh, the Los Angeles-based company has quietly reduced its staffing levels, with much of the impact reportedly falling on production crews hired for specific projects rather than permanent employees.
The reported staff reductions affected teams associated with some of Archewell Productions’ best-known projects, including the Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan and Meghan’s lifestyle programme, With Love, Meghan. Representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly did not respond to requests for comment.
Archewell Productions was established in 2020, following Meghan and Harry’s decision to step back from their roles as senior working members of the British royal family.
The company subsequently secured a deal with Netflix, providing the couple with an opportunity to develop documentaries, television programmes and other entertainment content.
One of its most prominent productions was Harry & Meghan, released in 2022. The documentary series explored the couple’s relationship, their departure from royal duties and their strained relationship with parts of the British monarchy. The programme attracted widespread international attention and placed their account of royal life at the centre of a global conversation.
Meghan later fronted With Love, Meghan, a lifestyle series focused on cooking, hosting and domestic activities. However, according to the report, the programme has not been renewed for a third season, although the possibility of future specials has not been entirely ruled out.
The reported uncertainty surrounding these projects has added to questions about the company’s production strategy and its ability to maintain a steady pipeline of content for streaming audiences.
Variety had previously reported tensions between Archewell Productions and Netflix, while Page Six also reported delays involving two anticipated Netflix film projects associated with the couple. The reports suggest that the company’s entertainment plans have encountered challenges, although the precise reasons behind the workforce reductions have not been fully established.
Despite the reported cuts, Archewell Productions is said to have retained its Hollywood office at Raleigh Studios, with employees continuing to work from the premises. The changes at Archewell Productions follow an earlier restructuring exercise involving the couple’s charitable organisation.
In December 2025, three members of the charitable arm were reportedly let go as part of efforts to reduce operating costs. A spokesperson at the time acknowledged that staffing adjustments had become necessary as the organisation changed how it operated.
The organisation was subsequently rebranded as Archewell Philanthropies. The restructuring of both the entertainment company and the charitable organisation has drawn attention to how thecouple are managing their different ventures. However, the reported staff reductions alone do not establish the overall financial position of either organisation or indicate that their operations are coming to an end.
On October 15, 2026, the couple reportedly made a joint public appearance in Nottingham during their visit to the United Kingdom. The outing was described in the source report as their first joint public appearance in the country since returning to Britain.
