Ghanaian musician Choirmaster was overcome with grief as he returned to Ghana ahead of the final funeral rites of his late wife, actress Beverly Afaglo, breaking down in tears at the Accra International Airport during an emotional reunion with family, friends and colleagues.
The heartbreaking moment unfolded when the former Praye member was welcomed home by his longtime friend and former music partner Praye Tiatia, who embraced and comforted the visibly devastated musician as he struggled to contain his emotions.
Videos of the emotional airport reunion have since gone viral on social media, touching the hearts of many Ghanaians and highlighting the immense pain Choirmaster continues to endure following the death of his wife.
Choirmaster, whose real name is Eugene Baah, returned to Ghana on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, after spending some time abroad following Beverly Afaglo’s death earlier this year.
His arrival comes less than two weeks before the actress’s final funeral rites, which have been scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra, after which she will be laid to rest in a private burial ceremony attended by close family members.
The most emotional scene at the airport occurred when Choirmaster spotted Praye Tiatia waiting to receive him.
The two longtime friends shared a prolonged embrace before Choirmaster broke down in tears, unable to hide the emotional burden he has carried since losing his wife.
Those present at the airport quickly gathered around the grieving musician, offering words of encouragement and comfort as he prepared for what will undoubtedly be one of the most difficult moments of his life.
Footage of the reunion, shared by blogger Tema Jesus Official, attracted widespread sympathy online, with thousands of Ghanaians expressing condolences and praying for strength for the musician and his family.
Dressed entirely in black, Choirmaster appeared visibly heartbroken as he made his way through the airport, reflecting the profound grief that has followed the passing of the woman with whom he shared more than a decade of marriage.
Choirmaster and Beverly Afaglo were regarded as one of the most admired celebrity couples.
The pair tied the knot in April 2012 after years together and built a family that many fans admired for its closeness and stability.
Throughout their marriage, Beverly frequently supported her husband’s music career while pursuing her own successful journey in the film industry.
