Shatta Wale Serves Notice To Run For Presidency, If Govt Won’t Find Jobs For Youth

Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has delivered a politically charged message at ShattaFest 2026, criticising the country’s leadership over unemployment, questioning the treatment of young people and suggesting that he could enter the presidential race if the government fails to address the concerns of the youth.

The musician, known in private life as Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., made the remarks during his ShattaFest concert at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 17, 2026. What began as a musical celebration took a more confrontational turn when he shifted from his career and financial achievements to broader concerns about governance, economic opportunities and the future of young Ghanaians.

In an emotional address to the crowd, Shatta Wale questioned why he continued to face criticism despite spending approximately 25 years building his music career.

He pointed to his reported acquisition of expensive luxury vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce and a Lamborghini, arguing that his achievements were the product of his work in music.

His comments appeared to reflect frustration with people who, in his view, failed to recognise the effort behind his success while making negative remarks about him.

The artiste also used strong language to express his dissatisfaction with the situation in Ghana, describing the country in derogatory terms.

Questions Treatment of Young People

A major theme of Shatta Wale’s address was the position of young people in Ghana, particularly those struggling to find employment and establish themselves financially.

The musician argued that the government must do more to create opportunities for the youth, warning that young people could be forced to take matters into their own hands if their concerns continued to go unaddressed.

“If government doesn’t go find work for we, we go find work too,” he declared, according to the supplied transcript.
The statement reflected his frustration with what he portrayed as a lack of sufficient economic opportunities for young people. He suggested that the country’s leadership could not continue to expect the youth to remain patient without providing practical solutions to their difficulties.

“I Will Go for Presidency”

The most politically significant moment came when Shatta Wale suggested that he could contest the presidency if the government failed to respond to the needs of the population.

In his address, he said that if the authorities continued to frustrate the youth, he could seek the highest political office in the country.

“If they do, if they verse, Shatta Wale, I go go for presidency. We go vote, and I go win,” he told the crowd.
FBI Arrests

Another controversial aspect of the musician’s speech was his reference to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, and what he portrayed as the treatment of young Ghanaians in connection with fraud allegations.

During the address, Shatta Wale repeatedly referred to the FBI and questioned what he saw as an emphasis on fraud-related issues while young people continued to face economic difficulties.

He also challenged the authorities to provide meaningful opportunities for the youth, arguing that if the government failed to create jobs, young people would seek ways to earn a living for themselves.

Shatta Wale also spoke about a dream involving imprisonment, describing a fear that he could end up in prison because of his involvement in music.

The musician’s remarks suggested that he had reflected on the personal risks and pressures associated with his career. However, the transcript does not clearly explain the circumstances behind the dream or establish that it relates to a specific criminal investigation or legal proceeding.

Over the years, Shatta Wale has built a public identity around his outspoken personality, confrontational exchanges and strong connection with his supporters.

At ShattaFest 2026, those familiar elements appeared to merge with a more direct discussion of unemployment, government responsibility and the possibility of entering politics.
