Dada KD Dies Days Ahead Of London Concert

Ghana’s vibrant music scene has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of renowned highlife musician Dada Kwaku Dua, popularly known as Dada KD.

The celebrated artiste passed away on the evening of Friday, May 16, 2025, just days ahead of a scheduled international performance in London.

His manager, King Pee, confirmed the shocking news in an interview with MyJoyOnline, revealing that Dada KD fell gravely ill in the early hours of Friday.

According to him, the singer unexpectedly became unresponsive and unable to speak, prompting an emergency rush to the Gbawe SDA Hospital in Accra.

Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead later that evening.

The 2025 London show, billed for May 25, was to feature a host of Ghanaian legends including Obrafour, Slim Buster, and Kojo Blakk.

The event was set to mark a rare appearance by Dada KD on an international stage, and fans had expressed great anticipation for what was expected to be a celebration of Ghanaian musical heritage.

Dada KD, whose music career spans decades, was celebrated for his deep lyrical content and emotionally resonant melodies.

His songs — including classics such as “Odo Mu Anigye”, “Ene Me Nye”, “Yebeye Yen Ho Fi”, “So Mu Gye”, and “Obiaa Se Eye” — touched on themes of love, unity, heartbreak, and social consciousness.

He was considered one of the key torchbearers of modern highlife music, blending traditional sounds with contemporary relevance.

Born and raised in Ghana, Dada KD carved a niche for himself in an industry that has seen many transitions, earning admiration for his authenticity, vocal prowess, and consistency.
