Chief Of Staff Urges Ghanaian Youth To Become Job Creators

BY Daniel Bampoe

The Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Julius Debrah, has called on Ghanaian youth to rise above the status of job seekers and become the next generation of job creators, innovators, and leaders.

Julius Debrah made this call at the official launch of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) Junior Chamber Initiative at the University of Ghana.

Debrah expressed concern over the rising youth unemployment in Ghana, citing data from the 2023 Labour Market Report.

According to the report, 1.4 million young Ghanaians are currently without jobs, with 22.3% of them being university graduates.

Debrah emphasized that education alone is not enough and that there is a need to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical business experience.

The Role of GNCCI Junior Chamber

The GNCCI Junior Chamber Initiative is designed to equip students with the skills, networks, and platforms required to drive Ghana’s economic transformation.

The Chief of Staff described the initiative as a strategic national intervention that will position students to become drivers of Ghana’s economic progress in the years ahead.

The initiative will serve as a platform for mentorship, networking, and practical business training.

Government Support

The Chief of Staff announced that the government will partner with the GNCCI Junior Chamber to organize exposure visits to leading entrepreneurs, manufacturing sites, and even the Office of the President.

This will provide students with real-world examples of success and inspire them to become job creators.

Empowering the Youth

Debrah emphasized that the future of Ghana’s economy is in the hands of the youth. “Dare to dream and act on those dreams,” he said.

“Let us create a Ghana where no young person is left behind—where entrepreneurship is a national culture, and innovation drives inclusive development.” The GNCCI Junior Chamber Initiative is a step towards empowering the youth to become job creators and drivers of economic growth.
