Ghanaian gospel music veteran Bernice Offei has been found safe after her disappearance triggered concern among relatives, colleagues, fans and members of the public across the country.
The 63-year-old musician was reported missing after she was last seen around Nyaho-Tamakloe Street in the Agbogba area of Accra on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Her whereabouts subsequently became a subject of public concern, prompting an appeal for information to assist in locating her.
The story gained wider attention on Wednesday, September 2, after Citi 97.3 FM circulated a missing-person alert seeking public assistance. The appeal provided telephone numbers through which anyone with information about her whereabouts could contact her family or the relevant authorities.
Members of the public were also encouraged to report any information that could help locate the veteran musician to the nearest police station.
The missing-person notice was subsequently circulated widely across social media, with fans and concerned Ghanaians joining efforts to establish her whereabouts.
The campaign to locate Offei ended with relief after information emerged that she had been found safe. Her return brought reassurance to her family, friends, colleagues and the many music lovers who had become concerned about her safety.
However, details surrounding her disappearance remain limited. At the time of the report, neither the circumstances that led to her going missing nor the exact location where she was found had been disclosed.
Offei’s disappearance came at a time when she remains a respected figure in Ghana’s gospel music scene. She has spent several decades in the industry and has built a loyal audience through her music.
The veteran musician is known for songs including “Hold On” and “Life Is So Short” and has been recognised as an award-winning gospel artiste.
Her latest ordeal has once again demonstrated the speed at which missing-person alerts can spread through traditional and social media, particularly when a public figure’s safety becomes a concern.
