A former staff of Media General, Sandra Esinam, has unleashed a blistering attack on Captain Smart, host of Onua TV’s morning show, over his unprofessional conduct and personal attacks.
In a strongly-worded letter, Esinam expressed her disappointment and disgust at Captain Smart’s behavior, stating, “Normally, I do not engage with individuals who make unsubstantiated accusations or personal attacks.
“However, after careful consideration, I feel compelled to respond in this instance.”
Sandra Esinam recounted how she had previously criticized Captain Smart’s unprofessional display on Onua TV, but instead of addressing the issue, he launched a personal attack on her character.
She stated, “In my initial statement, I expressed perplexity at how an institution I have worked with and respected for its values could condone such behavior. It appears my concerns were justified, as Captain Smart has continued to stoop to unprofessional levels, making baseless accusations and insults.”
Sandra Esinam specifically took issue with Captain Smart’s claim of promiscuity, calling it “nauseating” and “rooted in the cowardice of some men who, when confronted by superior intelligence from women, resort to calling them promiscuous.”
“This behavior is appalling, backward, and primitive, and it smacks of a very low level of confidence in the person hurling insults to avoid intellectual discourse.”
Captain Smart had earlier launched a counter-attack on Esinam, accusing her of infidelity on his show.
However, Sandra Esinam remained unfazed, emphasizing the importance of upholding the ethics of journalism.
She stated, “As journalists, our role is to educate, inform, and hold individuals and institutions accountable, not to engage in personal vendettas or warfare.”
