Former Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz will still attend the Confederation of African Football’s Strategy Conference in Cape Verde despite resigning as Ghana coach.
Queiroz stepped down after the September international window, ending his brief spell in charge of Ghana following defeats in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. His departure will not affect his invitation to the high-level strategy discussions.
The three-day conference is scheduled for October 7 to 9 in Santa Maria on Sal Island. It will bring together leading coaches, administrators and football experts to assess Africa’s performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and discuss development ahead of the 2030 World Cup.
Queiroz is listed among the high-profile speakers expected to share views on the continent’s football development and competitiveness.
He will appear alongside FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development Arsene Wenger, Morocco’s Mohamed Ouahbi, Egypt’s Hossam Hassan, DR Congo’s Sebastien Desabre and former Cape Verde coach Pedro Brito, popularly known as Bubista.
His participation comes just days after his exit from Ghana and keeps him engaged with African football at continental level.
The situation mirrors that of Otto Addo, who joined FIFA’s Technical Study Group for the 2026 World Cup after leaving his role as Ghana coach.
The CAF conference will examine lessons from the 2026 World Cup and explore practical measures to improve coaching, player development and Africa’s long-term competitiveness.
