Committee Probing Charles Amissah’s Death Calls For Evidence

 BY Nadia Ntiamoah

The committee investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Charles Amissah has called on members of the public, healthcare professionals, eyewitnesses and civil society organisations to submit information that could assist in establishing the facts of the case and improving emergency healthcare delivery in Ghana.

The appeal follows growing national concern over the death of the 29-year-old engineer, who reportedly died after a hit-and-run accident on February 6, 2026.

Reports indicate that Amissah was allegedly denied emergency medical treatment at three major health facilities in Accra — Police Hospital, Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital — before he eventually passed away.

In a statement issued by the investigative committee by up the Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, officials stressed that contributions from the public are critical to uncovering the full details surrounding the incident and to recommending reforms that could strengthen Ghana’s emergency healthcare response system.

The committee is therefore inviting written submissions, testimonies and other relevant information from individuals or organisations with knowledge about the incident or broader issues affecting emergency medical care in the country.

Interested persons have been asked to submit their contributions via email at dacosta_osei@yahoo.com or through telephone contact at +233 55 720 8487, with all submissions expected to reach the committee no later than March 11, 2026.

According to the statement, public cooperation will play a vital role in shaping recommendations that could help improve access to emergency medical services and prevent similar incidents in the future.

“Your input is vital to ensuring that emergency care in Ghana is responsive, accessible, and effective,” the committee noted in its appeal.

The notice was issued by Desmond Boateng on behalf of the Ministry of Health Ghana, which earlier constituted a three-member committee to probe the circumstances surrounding Amissah’s death.
