A shocking incident occurred in Ohwim-Akusu, near Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region, where two young sisters, Akosua Agyeiwaa, aged four, and Annel Boadu, aged two, were found dead in their sleep.

The sisters, who were pupils of Bantama Adventist School, Amanfrom, had returned from school on Friday, February 28, 2025, around 3 pm, and went to sleep after removing their uniforms.

Their grandmother, Patricia Boadu, discovered their lifeless bodies when she went to wake them up around 9 pm.

She immediately raised an alarm, and the girls were rushed to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

A Suame Divisional Police report revealed that the police found no signs of violence on the bodies, except for a foamy whitish substance coming from the nose of Annel Boadu.

The police have launched an investigation into the mysterious deaths, with the bodies conveyed to the KATH-Morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The cause of death remains unknown, but the incident has sent shockwaves through the community.

The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.

This incident is not the first of its kind, as there have been reported cases of sudden and unexplained deaths during sleep, known as Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS) or Unexplained Nocturnal Death Syndrome (UNDS).

These conditions are often attributed to underlying heart conditions or other medical factors, but in some cases, the cause of death remains unknown.
