EOCO Raids Kofi Jumah’s House

A dramatic turn in the ongoing anti-corruption drive unfolded on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, when operatives of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) carried out a raid on the Kumasi residence of former GIHOC Distilleries Managing Director, Maxwell Kofi Jumah.

The operation took place at his private residence located in Atonsu in the Ashanti Regional capital.

According to sources familiar with the development, the EOCO team arrived at the property in Jumah’s absence and reportedly forced entry into parts of the house.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the officers allegedly broke into his room and seized several items, including laptops, keys, and documents believed to be relevant to ongoing investigations.

The operation is also said to have caused damage to both entry and exit points of the building, raising concerns about the manner in which the exercise was conducted.

As of the time of filing this report, EOCO has not issued any official statement to confirm or explain the circumstances surrounding the raid.

Kofi Jumah, a former appointee under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, served for 8 years as Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, one of Ghana’s key state-owned manufacturing firms.

His tenure, once marked by efforts to revamp the company’s operations, has more recently come under intense scrutiny.

The raid is believed to be linked to broader state-led investigations into alleged financial irregularities and procurement breaches within state-owned enterprises. In recent months, concerns have been raised over contract awards, asset management practices, and the overall financial performance of GIHOC during Jumah’s leadership.

However, no formal charges have yet been publicly announced against him.
