FIFA President Gianni Infantino Congratulates Morocco On World Cup Qualification

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has extended his congratulations to Morocco after the Atlas Lions secured a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Morocco’s 5-0 victory over Niger over the weekend at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, marked their seventh World Cup appearance and third consecutive qualification.

Morocco’s Historic Achievement

The North African team’s win was fueled by impressive goals from Ismael Saibari, Ayoub El Kaabi, Hamza Igamane, and Azzedine Ounahi.

Infantino praised Morocco’s achievement on Instagram, highlighting the significance of this moment for Moroccan football, particularly as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 World Cup centenary celebration.

Infantino’s congratulatory message also looked ahead to the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

He expressed enthusiasm for seeing more remarkable performances from the Atlas Lions, referencing their historic run to the semi-finals in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Morocco’s next challenge will be against Zambia on September 8, 2025, in a World Cup qualification match.
