The Ghanaian entertainment industry has been thrown into deep mourning following the painful death of actress Beverly Afaglo, with heartbreaking scenes emerging as celebrities, colleagues and close friends continue to pay tribute to the late screen icon.
Since news of her passing broke, several actors, musicians and public figures have visited her family residence in Tema, where grief, tears and emotional breakdowns have become a daily reality.
The actress, who reportedly died after battling cancer, passed away just days before her 43rd birthday, leaving behind her husband, children and grieving relatives.
Her husband, musician Choirmaster of Praye fame, Eugene Kwadwo Boadu Baah, confirmed the heartbreaking news through an emotional social media post that immediately sent shockwaves across the country.
“My heart is shattered beyond words over the death of my beloved wife Beverly Afaglo,” the musician wrote in his tribute.
As preparations continue toward her official one-week observation scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Green Flavour Events Centre in Community 9, Tema, the actress’ family home has become a gathering point for Ghana’s biggest entertainment personalities.
One of the most emotional moments came when celebrated musician Praye Tietia, accompanied by his wife Selly Galley, paid a condolence visit to Choirmaster.
Praye Tietia, who has shared decades of friendship, performances and personal experiences with Choirmaster through the legendary Praye music group, reportedly struggled to hold back tears as he addressed journalists briefly during the visit.
The visibly shaken musician paused repeatedly while trying to speak and described Beverly Afaglo as more than just his bandmate’s wife.
“Beverly wasn’t just a wife to my brother; she has been an absolute core part of our entire family structure long before she officially got married to Choirmaster,” he emotionally stated.
He described the actress’ death as a painful loss for the entire Praye family and Ghana’s entertainment fraternity.
The grief surrounding Beverly Afaglo’s death reportedly became even more concerning after reports emerged that Choirmaster himself had allegedly been hospitalised due to the emotional trauma following his wife’s passing.
According to entertainment blogger Kingbygone, the musician’s blood pressure reportedly increased significantly after the tragedy, leading to his admission at a medical facility.
The blogger appealed to Ghanaians to keep Choirmaster and his children in prayers as they struggle through the devastating loss.
Elsewhere at the residence, actress Portia Asare also reportedly broke down emotionally while attempting to sign Beverly Afaglo’s book of condolence.
According to eyewitnesses, Portia became overwhelmed after seeing Beverly’s children and elderly mother, who is reportedly grieving multiple losses within the family.
The actress reportedly froze with a pen in her hand for several moments, unable to write as tears streamed down her face before eventually composing a touching tribute to her late colleague.
Actress Lydia Forson was also captured in heartbreaking videos crying uncontrollably during her visit to the family house.
The emotional scenes touched many Ghanaians online, with social media flooded with condolence messages and prayers for the bereaved family.
Actor-turned-politician John Dumelo also shared an emotional tribute revealing how Beverly Afaglo significantly influenced his acting career during its early stages.
According to Dumelo, he first met Beverly nearly 20 years ago on the set of the popular television series About to Wed in Dzorwulu, Accra.
He disclosed that the late actress constantly encouraged him and later recommended him for major movie roles, including The King Is Mine, one of the productions that contributed greatly to his rise in the movie industry.
“Thank you so much, Bev, for playing such a significant role in my acting career,” Dumelo wrote.
He further promised never to forget her contribution to his life and career, stating that her name would occupy several pages whenever he eventually writes his memoir.
Several other celebrities including Jackie Appiah, Kafui Danku and Prince David Osei have also reportedly visited the family home to console relatives and support Choirmaster during the difficult period.
Beverly Afaglo was widely admired not only for her acting talent but also for her warm personality, kindness and willingness to support upcoming talents within the entertainment industry.
Over the years, she built a respected career as an actress, television presenter, entrepreneur and media personality, earning admiration from fans and colleagues alike.
