The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has acknowledged intermittent technical difficulties affecting the payment of taxes through the Ghana.gov payment platform, with some taxpayers, importers and clearing agents experiencing delays in the processing and reflection of payments.
According to the GRA, the technical challenge began on Friday, August 14, 2026, and is affecting payment transactions initiated through three major tax and customs management systems: the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS), and Ghana Integrated Tax Management and Information System (GITMIS).
The Authority, however, clarified that the disruption is limited specifically to the payment-processing component of the platform and does not affect the filing of tax returns.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 20, the GRA said the Ghana.gov payment platform remains operational, although some transactions may take longer than usual to process or may not immediately appear on taxpayers’ respective online portals.
The development could create difficulties for businesses and individuals who depend on the digital platform to settle their tax obligations, particularly importers and clearing agents whose transactions may be linked to customs-related payments through ICUMS.
The GRA said it is working with relevant technical partners to identify and resolve the problem, with technical interventions already underway.
The Authority stressed that the matter is being treated as a priority and assured affected taxpayers that outstanding payment transactions would eventually be processed and properly reflected on their respective portals once the technical difficulties are fully resolved.
The clarification is particularly important for taxpayers who may have initiated payments but are yet to see the transactions reflected in their accounts. The GRA’s position is that the absence of an immediate reflection on the portal does not necessarily mean that the payment has failed.
The Authority has therefore urged taxpayers and other stakeholders to exercise patience while the technical teams work to normalise the system.
