Ghana’s Black Sharks face a challenging assignment at the 2026 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations after being drawn against hosts and defending champions Senegal, Mozambique and Uganda in Group A.
The draw, held on Wednesday, November 5, 2026, at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt, has placed Ghana in the same group as the most successful nation in the history of the competition.
Senegal will be the opening opponents and present a significant test for the Black Sharks. The hosts enter the tournament as defending champions and seven-time winners of the continental competition, making them one of the teams to watch as they seek to extend their dominance of African beach soccer.
Ghana, however, will be hoping to make a strong impression after securing qualification through an emphatic victory over West African rivals Nigeria.
The Black Sharks booked their place at the finals with a 10-7 aggregate victory over Nigeria in the qualifying round. The first leg ended in a 3-3 draw in Nigeria before Ghana sealed qualification with a 7-4 victory in the return fixture in Keta.
That result secured Ghana’s return to the continental tournament, having last featured at the competition in 2024.
Following their opening encounter with Senegal, Ghana will take on Mozambique, a side that has emerged as one of the continent’s developing forces in beach soccer.
The Black Sharks will then conclude their group-stage campaign against Uganda, with both fixtures expected to play an important role in determining the teams that progress.
The 2026 edition will be hosted by Senegal, who will have the added advantage of playing on home soil as they defend their continental crown.
The competition format provides a pathway to the semi-finals for the top two teams in each group. The semi-final winners will advance to the final, with the finalists also securing qualification for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
