Freedom of speech when it is abused as it is the case today exposes its underbelly for badmouthing. Some even, out of frustration present the alternatives of a culture of silence where those who speak against the authorities are arrested and subjected to inhuman treatment.
We have gone past that chapter in our history it would appear although in recent times traits of that obnoxious order are being noticed under the current political administration.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi-Bosiako’s arrest has triggered various conversations on traditional and social media and rightly so.
One of such conversations was not a parley but outright invectives from a supposed pulpit.
A certain Pastor Kofi Oduro, an NDC-inclined person was captured insulting NPP leaders and supporters because they had turned up at the holding centre of the chairman.
We do not have any problem about him donning the NDC colours as he commands affairs of his church from the pulpit.
What we shall not entertain as Ghanaians from his is the insults he directs at certain groups of citizens simply because they do not belong to the NDC.
According to him it was nonsensical for the leadership of the NPP to have massed up at EOCO or NIB. He posed the question ‘do they know what he had done? Do we know what people do?’
Such ignorance from a supposed man of God is the reason why negative impressions are created about some so-called men of God who practice politics in their commercial churches.
The ‘pastor’ in reference should have known that even suspected murderers are entitled to bail.
Selectiveness on the part of so-called pastors who make so much noise on the public space during their jaundiced political sermons exposes their weaknesses big time.
For a pastor hungry for political subjects to sermonize on we think he deliberately ignored the Sammy Gyamfi dollar rain because for him that is no-go area.
He ignored also the cocaine coast tag festooned around the neck of the country. He did not hear about the aircraft which landed in the country’s Kotoka International Airport and lights went off. He also has not commented about the missing containers and their return with an appreciated number.
And such persons indoctrinate their congregation with toxic sermons which lack sense and logic.
Let us all rise against such irresponsible liars who think they know God more than others.
Let him spare us the screams, his nauseating characteristic, which he laces with such vile propaganda.
God is pure and does not condone the irresponsible propaganda of individuals who think they can abuse the Holy Scriptures to undertake their political projects.
